Today we started in the dark because we had a long day to walk and the afternoon sun has been brutal. The highs each day have been in the 90's. The full moon lit our way and the beautiful sunrise lit our hearts.
It was rocky climb, up and down hills all the way into Viana. We loved this old and new city. In the middle of the old city is a gothic cathedral. Walking in there is peaceful chanting. Small chapels flank the church. I fell on love with one of the chapels. It was so beautiful and peaceful I did not want to leave. The colors included light pastels which are unusual. I will try to attach a link below.
We contined walking through wine country that looks much like the Treasure Valley. We did not have as many steep hills but it was very hot.
In leaving in the dark I apparently left my other pair of shorts behind. This a real problem since I have only the pair I have on to wear and they are sweaty. The hospitalier have us directions to some stores in the old city. Why there we ran into some other pilgrims from Spain who live in Logrono and just ended there pilgrimage. The took us in their car with 2 other Pilgrims who are friends of theirs and took us out to a big sports store so that I could find shorts. The full time I could not understand them at all. Angie did all the communicating. It was a total trust walk for me. I just had to let go! Again, the Camino provides. Trust, trust, trust.
Eileen, I am envisioning you in your office (your previous one) telling the story of your "lost" shorts, and I am laughing with you. Not one, but both pairs! And I am also wondering what you have left as you talked about taking pants that the legs could be unzipped and become shorts. I'm hoping you have more than the pant legs to wear! Maybe you'll see someone sporting your shorts on your journey! Your loss may be another's gain....
ReplyDeleteI checked out the full moon last night-the same one that guided your early morning travels. It was beautiful! Hoping that your new shorts (and maybe socks....) bring you comfort on your journey.
What an amazing experience this is!
