Los Arcos to Torres del Rio: Septmber 2014: Day 9

We have had 2 days now we have had to find alternate housing.  Apparently we stared we a huge number of Pilgrims.  There are a constant stream of us on the path.  We had hoped to walk as far as we could or wanted each day and take whatever is available.  However it looks like we will be forced to book ahead so that we can assure we won't be sleeping on the ground.  Today to assure a room we walked a shorter distance and arrived at our Alberque shortly afternoon.  The village sits high on a hill and overlooks the valleys below. We are sharing a room in an old stone building with 3 floors with 10 other people.

We were able to wash out our clothes and get a nap.  In washing my clothes I found I am missing my other pair of shorts. This presents a big problem because I have nothing to change into.  Also while we were downstairs eating dinner a big rain storm came in and drenched all my clothes I had on the line.  I had no dry socks for the next day.  Feet are everything around here.  I have sick liners for tomorrow and we have a 7 hour walk tomorrow.

This evening we were able to go into an octagonal church designed by the Knights Templar.  It is ver beautiful and stark.  Today it is only used for funerals.  Our alberque had a replica of a Knight with additional awards.  We were able to have out pictures taken along side th knight.
